Inflation and Parallel Economy in India 2026 Telugu | CPI, WPI, Black Money | APPSC Economics

Inflation and Parallel Economy in India: భారతదేశంలో ద్రవ్యోల్బణం (Inflation), ధరల సూచీలు (Price Indices), Consumer Price Index (CPI), Wholesale Price Index (WPI), GDP Deflator, ద్రవ్యోల్బణ సిద్ధాంతాలు (Theories of Inflation), ద్రవ్య విధానం (Monetary Policy), సమాంతర ఆర్థిక వ్యవస్థ (Parallel Economy), నల్లధనం (Black Money), పన్ను ఎగవేత (Tax Evasion) వంటి అంశాలను సమగ్రంగా తెలుసుకుందాం.

(Meaning of Inflation)

  • General Price Level
  • Purchasing Power of Money
  • Money Income, Real Income
  • Consumers, Producers, Borrowers, Lenders

1.2 Relative Price Rise vs Inflation

Exam Point: Inflation means a sustained rise in the General Price Level, not merely an increase in the price of one commodity.

(Types of Inflation)

2.1 Demand-Pull Inflation –

2.2 Cost-Push Inflation –

2.3 Monetary Inflation

Money Supply

2.4 Imported Inflation –

2.5 Food Inflation –

2.6 Headline Inflation

2.7 Core Inflation

Core Inflation

2.8 Hyperinflation

2.9 Stagflation

2.10 Deflation

2.11 Disinflation

(Measures of Inflation)

3.1 Consumer Price Index (CPI)

Consumer Price Index.

3.2 Wholesale Price Index (WPI)

Office of Economic Adviser, Ministry of Commerce and Industry విడుదల చేస్తుంది.

3.3 Consumer Food Price Index (CFPI)

3.4 GDP Deflator

Economy-wide Price Indicator.

GDP Deflator = (Nominal GDP / Real GDP) × 100

3.5 GDP Deflator vs CPI

CPIGDP Deflator

4. CPI, WPI కొత్త Base Years – 2026

IndicatorCurrent Base Year
CPI (Rural, Urban, Combined)2024 = 100
WPI2022–23 = 100
GDP / GVA Constant Price Series2022–23

Base Year మార్చినప్పుడు Item Basket, Weights, Data Sources, Methodology కూడా సవరించబడవచ్చు.

Exam Point: CPI Base Year 2024=100. WPI Base Year 2022–23=100. GDP Series Base Year 2022–23.

5. Inflation Rate Formula మరియు Numerical Problems

5.1 Year-on-Year Inflation

Inflation Rate (%) = [(CPI Current Period − CPI Same Period Previous Year) / CPI Same Period Previous Year] × 100

Numerical Example 1

Inflation = [(126 − 120) / 120] × 100
Inflation = (6 / 120) × 100
Inflation = 5%

5.2 Month-on-Month Inflation

MoM Inflation = [(Current Month CPI − Previous Month CPI) / Previous Month CPI] × 100

5.3 Real Wage Growth

Real Wage Growth (%) = [(1 + Nominal Wage Growth/100) / (1 + Inflation/100) − 1] × 100

Numerical Example 2

Nominal Wage Growth = 8%, Inflation = 5%

Real Wage Growth = [(1.08 / 1.05) − 1] × 100
Real Wage Growth ≈ 2.86%

5.4 Purchasing Power of Money

Purchasing Power Index = (100 / Price Index) × 100

Purchasing Power Index = 80.

(Quantity Theory of Money)

10.1 Fisher's Equation of Exchange

Equation of Exchange:

M × V = P × T

M = Money Supply; V = Velocity of Money; P = Price Level; T = Volume of Transactions.

National Income

M × V = P × Y

Y = Real Output.

10.2 Quantity Theory Interpretation

10.3 Cambridge Cash Balance Approach

M = k × P × Y

k = ప్రజలు తమ ఆదాయంలో Money Balancesగా ఉంచుకునే భాగం.

10.4 Milton Friedman

11. Phillips Curve and Inflation

A. W. Phillips 1958లో Unemployment, Wage Inflation మధ్య సంబంధాన్ని పరిశీలించాడు.

11.1 Expectations-Augmented Phillips Curve

Inflation = Expected Inflation − α × (Unemployment − Natural Rate) + Supply Shock

11.2 Stagflation and Phillips Curve

(Effects of Inflation)

12.1 Consumers

12.2 Fixed Income Groups

12.3 Borrowers and Lenders

12.4 Business Investment

12.5 International Trade

(Inflation Control Measures)

13.1 Monetary Policy

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Money Market Conditions, Interest Rates, Liquidity

Open Market Operations (OMO)

13.2 Fiscal Measures

  • Government Expenditure Management.
  • Tax Policy Adjustments.
  • Supply-side Infrastructure Investment.
  • Targeted Subsidy Design.

(Parallel Economy)

15.1 Black Money –

భారత ప్రభుత్వం 2012లో White Paper on Black Money ప్రచురించింది.

15.2 Black Money and Cash

16. Parallel Economyకు కారణాలు (Causes of Parallel Economy)

  • Tax Evasion.
  • Under-reporting of Income.
  • Unrecorded Economic Activities.
  • Corruption.
  • Weak Compliance and Enforcement.
  • Complex Regulatory Processes.
  • Illegal Economic Activities.
  • Financial Secrecy.

17. Tax Avoidance, Tax Evasion, Tax Planning

17.1 Tax Planning

17.2 Tax Avoidance

17.3 Tax Evasion

TermMain Characteristic
Tax PlanningLawful use of tax provisions
Tax AvoidanceArrangements intended to reduce tax; may face anti-avoidance scrutiny
Tax EvasionIllegal non-compliance

18. Parallel Economy ప్రభావాలు (Effects)

  • Loss of Tax Revenue.
  • Misallocation of Resources.
  • Unfair Competition.
  • Income and Wealth Inequality.
  • Distortion of Official Economic Statistics.
  • Reduced Transparency.
  • Corruption Risks.
  • Undermining of Public Trust.

19. Black Money నిరోధక చర్యలు (Measures Against Black Money)

19.1 Income Tax Compliance

Tax Reporting, Information Matching, Digital Tax Administration

19.2 Goods and Services Tax (GST)

GSTలో Invoice Reporting, Input Tax Credit Matching, E-way Bill వంటి విధానాలు Transaction Traceabilityకు సహకరించవచ్చు.

19.3 Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002

20. Parallel Economy Size –

Parallel Economy

21. Inflation and Parallel Economy

22. Previous Year Question Concepts
